snowflakes card by Teri // terisplace.wordpress.com

Made this guy with Technique Tuesday’s Snowflakes and Sparkle and Shine dies, as well as the Marquee Label die and Planner – December Story stamp set.

I was going for kinda of a chalkboard look so I adhered the snowflakes on black cardstock and then used my finger to rub (liberally) some white ink all over them. Then I added an enamel dot the middle of each snowflake.

  13. I really love your card–I’ve been trying to think of something new to do with my snowflake dies (I’m tired of white or silver!

  14. Fingers can be fabulous tools for us crafters, yes? 😉
Love the white and bright colors on top of black – great pop for the card!

  15. I also love the beautiful, bright colored snowflakes against the black cardstock. Your idea of giving it a chalkboard feel takes it one step further! Very pretty, very festive!

  16. I rarely think of coloring objects differently than how they usually are, but love how pretty the snowflakes look against the background. Thanks for your ideas!

  17. Stunning! Love the vibrant snowflakes on the black background and the hint of snow flurries with the brushes of white ink.

  18. TERI – you did good, girl! Very unique use of color and overall “look”. Hope your Christmas is as lovely as your card.

  19. Love the chalkboard look even more with your colorful snowflakes. Can’t believe I haven’t tried doing this effect yet but you reminded me to get with it.

  20. Love the awesome colours of the snowflakes and the black background of the chalkboard just make them pop even more. Beautiful!

  21. This is really beautiful! I’m a huge fan of using non-traditional colors on Christmas cards. Always such a surprise. Cute and clever way to attach the sentiment too. Overall, just a beautiful and fun card. TFS!

  22. Oh fun! Love how the colors pop on the black background. Thanks for being part of Taheerah’s fun extravaganza!

  23. Oh love this! What cheery bold snowflakes against the chalkboard! Can you imagine what a blizzard would look like if real snow was this colour? Fun!

  24. I really love your technique here! The softness of the white ink really looks perfect on the black cardstock, giving that chalkboard look you were going for, and also adding some snow magic to those snowflakes! I’m excited to try this technique out soon! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  25. Christmas cards can get so boring with all the red and green. I love your use of color for this wintery card. Thanks for sharing!

  26. Absolutely gorgeous! Love the colors, and the rubbed white ink gives it such a unique look – a bit like frost on a window but with more texture somehow, LOVE it 🙂

  27. Sorry for the duplicate comments! (I wasn’t seeing them, so I thought it didn’t go through for some reason. LOL) 😂

  28. I just love bright colors and black together. And by adding the white over the snowflakes, it softens the colors and makes the black pop too!! Great job!

  29. Love the bright colored snowflakes on the black. I forget how good bright colors look on black. Thanks for the inspiration.

  30. I don’t h ave a die cutter, boo hoo! LOL However, these look just like some metal brads that I have! I wish I could show them to you because they do look just like them. They are so pretty! I love snow and snowflakes and saw a close up of a snowflake that someone took with a very special camera. It was so amazing! I don’t like when they get all full of dirt from all the sand trucks and plows. I like it when it’s just pristine, kind of like your card. Don’t get any sand truck dirt on it! LOL

  31. Wow, these cards are beautifully eye-catching. Very creative design. Love these blog hops because you get to find more crafters. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  32. Beautiful card Taheerah! I love the bright colors, but the hint of white ink is what really makes this card! Thanks for the inspiration and for the opportunity to win!

  33. Great card…reminds me of Christmas tree lights in a darkened room..love your choice of the planner stamp sentiment.

  34. Love the unexpected use of color here. Most people would go with boring white but this is nicer, I think. Thanks!
