A Christmas Card + a Sunny Studio Alert!

Looking for my 4th Birthday Sunny Studio Blog Hop post? It’s two posts down. 🙂

Hey, guys! It’s never too early to get started on Christmas cards. I don’t know about you, but I sure hate waiting to the last minute to make them. I’d much rather spread out my card making efforts over the year and then just pull cards from my stash out at Christmas.

Today’s card features the mini light bulb die that Sunny Studio is offering with orders until their supply runs out. I just love this little light.

A Christmas card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

I cut it multiple times from white cardstock and then used my markers to add colors to the bulb and base. Look really close at each bulb and you’ll see some extra shading added to each one.  The “string” is a piece of twine I adhered right onto my card and then placed the lights along it.MerryChristmasBulbs-teri-close

The white cardstock panel they are placed on was dry embossed with their new Buffalo Plaid embossing folder. It’s really cool, I think, how it looks when embossed on white paper.

The sentiment was created with words and phrases from the Merry Mice stamp set. Really, I could have used words from any Christmas stamp set, but I just happened to have that stamp set sitting on my desk so I used it. How is that for a “real life crafting” confession? Wink.

Alright! That’s it for this card. Don’t forget. Today is the last day to take part in Sunny Studio’s 4th Birthday Blog Hop. Get hopping by checking out my post here. So many fun cards.

Thank you for stopping by. It’s always such a treat when folks do. Thank you.

I’ve created three cards with the new products to share with you today.

This first card is a, well, a little cheesy! Wink!

CheesyChristmasMiceCard-teri

Ha! Just kidding. But it sure was fun to make a sweet little scene with these mice and tree stamps from the Merry Mice stamp set. I also used the coordinating Merry Mice dies and Very Merry 6×6 paper.

A handmade Christmas card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

To give the background paper a little extra something, I added some white dots to some of the snowballs with white Nuvo Crystal Drops. It’s subtle but I like it adds just little bit of texture to the card.

I really like making scenes when I stamp so this second card features, well, another scene! 🙂

MerryLittleChristmasHouses-Teri The neighborhood and snowy hills were stamped with the Scenic Route stamps and die-cut with the Scenic Route dies. I applied glitter along the snowy hills to add a little sparkle to this scene.

I also used an embossing folder (the brand new 6×6 Buffalo Plaid one) to dry emboss the white cardstock behind the scene. MerryLittleChristmasHouses-Teri-Close

This last card features yet another scene. This one was created with the new Feeling Frosty stamp set and Feeling Frosty dies. (One creative note: The sentiment was created with words from the Merry Mice stamp set.)

MerryLittleSnowmen-teri

I once again used paper from the Very Merry 6×6 paper pack.

MerryLittleSnowmen-teri-close

These little snowpeople are just so cute. I actually stamped and die-cut about a dozen of them. I colored them all in and then just fit as many as I could on my card. Needless to say, they’ll be surfacing on several more cards in the next few months. Mark. My. Words.

Alright! That’s what I have!

Be sure to leave a comment on my post (as well as the rest of the blog hoppers’ posts). You could win a $25 gift card on my blog, as well as each of their blogs! Comments will be taken through Friday, September 27th 11:59 pm PDT. Fall | Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Hop – 2

Hi, guys!

I couldn’t help myself. I was inspired by the Fall | Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Hop make another card to share with you.

Meet today’s card.

HappyWarmWishesMugsCard-teri

Today’s card is on the fun side. I pulled out the Thanks a Latte stamp set (and dies) from Lawn Fawn. Not only are the cups ADORABLE, but there are little face stamps you can stamp on them. I just love giving a cup that extra pop of silly personality.

HappyWarmWishesMugsCard-2teri

The texture background for my card was created with the Cable Knit embossing folder from Sunny Studio Stamps. It felt like it was just a good background to use with these warm Winter drinks.

Alright! That is it for me for now. I hope to make another project or two to share and link up to the hop before it ends.

By the way, don’t forget to swing by the hop post to see all the projects that have been linked up so far. So many fun coffee, tea and cocoa-themed cards.

25 Days of Christmas Tags – Jillibean Soup

44525104_10213456480951907_1009268704120143872_n

Hi, friends!

I’m thrilled today to share a couple tags inspired by Tracey McNeeley’s 8th annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags.

Today, Tracey and friends are sharing tags that feature products from Jillibean Soup.

I’m contributing two tags for today’s fun. Both of my tags were created with Jillibean Soup’s Holiday Shape Shakers collection.

25Tags2018-Jillibean3-teri

This little tag was created with a couple of their new stamp and die sets: Llama Holiday and Be Tacky. I gotta tell you that little llama just slays me. Such an adorable little dude to use on holiday gift tags…. and Christmas cards, too. 25Tags2018-Jillibean4-teri

This next little tag uses the Merry & Bright stamps and dies to do the trees , plus the Llama Holiday and Loads of Cheer stamps and dies to the sentiment.25Tags2018-Jillibean1-teri25Tags2018-Jillibean2-teri

One thing I feel the urge to say is how much I enjoyed mixing and matching the stamps and dies from Jillibean’s Holiday Shakers collection together. They all are really fun to mix and match…. and I’ve always had a soft spot for doing that when I craft.

Alrighty. That’s what I have. Be sure to stop by Tracey’s blog for tons more holiday tag inspiration. So, so, so many great ideas to be had. So much inspiration!

Alright! That’s it for now. I’ll be back later, gators. Thanks for be-bopping on by. It’s a total treat when you do.

Technique Tuesday Sneak Peek No. 2

Hi, guys!

I’m back with a couple more cards to share that features some new products for November for Technique Tuesday. Their new release of stamps and cutting dies goes live right here tomorrow.

Meet card no. 1.

This guy features the new Perfect Poinsettia stamp set and matching dies.

redpoinsettiaseasonsgreetingscard-teri

I think this stamp set really is pretty. I just love the big Poinsettia in it. It’s so wide open and so easy to color with markers. I colored the one of my card with markers and then added a little extra shading with pencils. Once I did all the coloring, I added a hit of glitter to the center of the flower. It’s subtle, but it is there.

This second card features the new Hello Winter stamp set. What a fun stamp set it is.

warmerwinterclothescard-teri

It features a bunch of Winter-themed images, as well as some fun phrases. The stamp set was designed with scrapbookers in mind, but it is a set that is equally card friendly. I felt like everything in it could easily be used to make cards and scrapbook pages.

Alright, kids. That is what I have for you today. Be sure to hit the Technique Tuesday blog for a look at all the new products, plus you’ll find links to all the Design Team members, who are sharing projects on their blog today as well. Woohoo for cool new projects… and stamps and dies too. 😉

Technique Tuesday Sneak Peek No. 1

Hi, guys!

Technique Tuesday is gearing up for their November 1st release of stamps and dies, and the design team is joining the fun today by sharing some cards they’ve made with the new goods.

I’ve got a couple cards to show you today.

This first card features the new Christmas Cocoa stamp set.

PeppermintChristmasCocoaCard-teri

To give the cocoa cups a little sparkle, I added a light dusting chunky glitter. I also “grounded” the cups by sponging a little black ink below them. It’s an easy thing to, and it adds so much.

PeppermintChristmasCocoaCardClose-teri

Card number 2 also features the Christmas Cocoa stamp set.

PeppermintMugCard-teri

To create this card, I stamped the cocoa cup with a light kraft ink onto the panel several times. I also stamped the little hearts. Then I stamped the cocoa cup on white cardstock, colored it in with markers and fussy cut it out with my scissors. (There are no matching dies for this stamp set, but the images are easy to cut with your scissors.) I completed the cocoa cup by adding a sprinkling of glitter to it as well. It’s all in the whip. 😉

I finished the card by adding the sentiment (which could make this image pass for a peppermint mocha too) and a few sequins.

Alright! That’s all I have for you today. Be sure to visit the Technique Tuesday blog for a full look at this stamp set and some other products they are releasing on the 1st. All the new products will be available on Nov. 1st on their website.

You’ll also want to check out the blogs of my Design Team pals, who are sharing projects they’ve created with the new goods. You’ll find links to all their blogs on the Technique Tuesday blog.

Christmas + Cactus = One Fun Card

Hi, guys!

Have you started thinking about making Christmas cards? I’m a long way out from picking a design to make mass quantities of this year, but I’ve been having fun trying out some different stamp sets to make one-of-a-kind cards.

Yes, I say one-of-a-kind cards. Still playing around, trying to find “that” card that will be the one I make lots of. Today’s card is definitely a contender though for me making more like it.

Without anymore delay, meet today’s card.

merrycactuscard-teri

It’s a bit non-traditional for a Christmas card, which is a big reason why I love it.

The cactus and words are form the Christmas Cactus stamp set designed by Ann Corbiere-Scott for Scraps of Love, a fun scrapbook store I recently visited in Arizona. Ann created a whole collection of  hand-drawn stamp sets for them, a number of which have a sweet Arizona twist.

I couldn’t resist making a Santa-themed cactus with the stamps. I stamped the three cactus plant on white cardstock, plus one Santa hat, and colored them in with markers and pencils. I fussy cut them out and then pieced them together to make the little scene you see here. (By the way, I wanted the images to really stand out so I sponged blue ink on my card base, plus I added some extra detail to the large cactus by adding a few drops of Glossy Accents. Those drops really add something special.)

Merry Cactus stamped Christmas card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

While I used a combination of markers and pencils to color in the cactus plants, I decided to do something different with the sentiment. I bypassed the markers and simply used colored pencils. I love how it looks.

I also added a few more drops of Glossy Accents to my overall card design, and I added some texture to the white spaces on Santa’s hat with the help of my white Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Anyway, I think this card turned out fun. I just might make some more like it.

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll be back again soon, friends.
