Colored Pencils for the Card Making Win

Hi, friends!

Surprise, surprise! I’m back again with another stamped card to share with you.

Do you ever buy a stamp set that you are so excited about, bring it home and then … quietly… not do anything with it for a long, long, long time? So begins the tale of how today’s card came to be.

Meet today’s card.

A handmade Christmas card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

I picked up the Winter Woodland stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh quite a long time ago. I just loved cute critters in it. I didn’t do much with it and instead kept in my bin of stamps to use soon. Days became days and days, and days and days became… forever.. with the stamp set sitting and waiting to see some inky action.

Well, I took one look at the stamp set the other day and was like, “I need to use you, man. You are so cute!” And so I challenged myself to get off my card making hiney and make a card with this adorable set. And so I did.

All the images on this card are from the set. The words too.

I went out my regular zone and used colored pencils to color the images in rather than markers. If you look close, you’ll see I added a little sparkle as well to the holly leaves (with a Wink of Stella pen) and the berries (with glitter glue). I also added some with dots with white Nuvo Crystal Drops.

That little rectangle panel was cut with a die from My Favorite Things.

Anyway, I think the card turned out pretty cute! I am totally challenging myself to make another card soon with the stamp set. It’s just so cute and happy… and fun. I sure like it.

I’ll be back again soon, friends. Thanks, as always, for stopping by.

Espresso + Magic = One Fun Card

Hi, guys!

I’m back again with another card. This one just happened the other day when I was messing around with my small stash of Studio L2E stamps.

Haven’t heard of Studio L2E? I’d totally encourage you to check them out. If you are a planner, Studio L2E has created lots of planner stamps that are just awesome. Not a planner? They have lots of planner and non-planner stamps that can be used on all kinds of craft projects. Some of that I have really geeked out over, especially, are the wizard-inspired ones: Wizard Life, Wizard Weekly and Planner Wizards: Tiffy + K.

Today’s card features some of those stamps. Let’s take a look.

A coffee wizard stamped card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

I started this card by stamping six of the wizard coffee cups on cardstock and then coloring them in with markers. I fussy them out with my scissors. The cool thing is that the cup is really easy to cut. If you are fussy cut challenged, don’t be intimidated by this cup.

I created the white mat and gray scalloped mat with the help of a couple dies from My Favorite Things. I stacked them on top of each and adhered them to my card. Before I adhered the cups to the card, I placed a sticky note on it and sponged a little black ink on it and below it. This created the shadow you see under the the cups.

I felt like the cups needed a little extra “magic” to I stamped a wand (from the Wizard Weekly stamps) for the top one. I added a little sparkle to the middle of the wand with some glitter glue and then I added a bunch of dots around it with glitter glue and white Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I completed the card with the Espresso Patronum sentiment (from the Planner Wizards: Tiffy + K stamp set). It felt like it was the just perfect way to complete this little card.

Alright. That’s it for me. I’ll be back later, friends.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Thrilling Birthday Card

Hi, everyone!

How is your day going? Hoping well.

I’m back with another stamped birthday card to share with you.

A stamped birthday card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

Created this guy the other day when I was in need of a little “creative therapy” time. All the images and words are from the Lawn Fawn’s Coaster Critters stamp set. They were cut with the coordinating diesThrillingBirthdayCard-2-teri

So I just cut a bunch of elements to color in with markers. There’s just something calming about marker coloring. 😉 If you look really, really close, you’ll see I added a few extra details with Nuvo Crystal Drops and a white gel pen to the balloons, cotton candy and large roller coaster car. I also added a few white dots to the sky too.

The sky background was created with cardstock, ink and a cloud stencil from My Favorite Things. It is one of those crafty things I would argue any scene loving stamper needs. It’s a great little tool.

The papers at the bottom? They are just scraps from my stash of papers. If you are ever wondering what my deal is for selecting patterned papers to use on my cards, here are a couple tips. I typically like to use small patterns (or ledger or graphic paper). And I like to use colors that work together. It’s like picking cardstock colors that work together. You just have to train your eye to do it with patterned paper. It becomes easier the more you do it, like everything in crafting.

Alright. That’s it for today. I’ll be back again later, friends.

These tag bookmarks are really, really, really easy to make with their Self-Laminating Pouches.

I really wanted to use some cute stamps I had from My Favorite Things to decorate my bookmarks, but you’ll see this little project could be created with stamps from pretty much anyone out there… or stickers… or die-cuts. And it’s a craft that could do… or you could easily make with a child.

Be sure to check out the post! I’d be tickled if you would.

And thanks, as always, for stopping by my little spot on the web. I sure appreciate your visits.

Get Cracking on Christmas Challenge Hop

Hi, guys!

I’m here again. True Story. It was like… 100 degrees… a few days ago…. and I was sitting at my desk making a Christmas card… but for a good reason!

I’m joining some of my favorite crafty friends today in the Get Cracking on Christmas Challenge Blog Hop.

This challenge was started by my friend, Jenn Shurkus, and other friends Chari and Cherion, who wanted challenge each other on the third Thursday of the month every month to share a Christmas card! If you did it every month, you’d have 12 Christmas cards by the end of the year. I think it’s an awesome way to build up that Christmas card stash… so here I am.

Before I show you what I made, here’s a complete list of all of today’s blog hoppers:

A Hedgehog stamped card by Teri | terisplace.wordpress.com

I just had fun with this one. I created the little scene with the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set and dies from My Favorite Things (plus a cloud stencil from MFT Stamps). The words are from the Winter Wonderland stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh.

My apologies that I’m not really sure where the die-cut hearts came from.  I have a little bowl on my desk with leftover stamped and die-cut pieces. I found them at the bottom of it.

warmhugs2-teri

To make the hearts and the words stamp out, I added some dots with Nuvo Crystal Drops. I really, really, really enjoy the dimension they give cards. A little pop without a lot of bulk. Works for me!

Alright! That’s it for today. Thanks for hopping with me and the whole gang!  Don’t forget to stop by Lisa Henke‘s blog (the next stop)! See you again soon!

TeriAnderson-3DSmileFriendCardSet-5

These cards were extra fun to make as they use lots of 3D Foam Products. They have lot of depth and dimension.

Get the scoop on how I did it in the post over there. You’ll also find lots of more pictures.

Be back again later, gators.

Today’s card (5-10)

Hi, guys!

Back again with a card to share with you! Because… that’s what I do. Wink!

A stamped card by Teri || Terisplace.wordpress.com

Just a “for fun” card!

Created this goofy little scene with the new Let’s Flamingle stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. They just came out. (Thank you, sweet friend, who shared them with me.)

Flamingos have a special place in my heart. Many plastic flamingos have graced my yard over the years. They humor me greatly. 😉 Flamingoparty2card-teri

I thought it would be fun to create a goofy scene with them so I die-cut, stamped and colored several drink glasses for my scene. I even added some “salt” to them with glitter glue.

I initially had planned to have all the glasses surround one of the ‘mingos, but I made a last minute decision that one should serve as a hat too. Because… it made me chuckle. Hopefully it does for you too!

By the way, you might be wondering about the background behind the flamingos. I created that sky with the help of MFT’s Cloud stencil. It’s such a fantastic tool for making scene cards. I’d totally recommend getting one to anyone who likes to make stamped scenes.

Anyway, that is all I have for you. Thanks for taking the time to check out my card today.
