MFT Countdown: 6

Hello again!

It’s another day of counting down toward the October release (cough… Oct. 14th… cough) from My Favorite Things.

So let’s do this! I’ve got a couple cards to share with you today.

Give it up for card #1.

The words, the trees and (stinkin’ cute) reindeer are all from the new Jingle All The Way stamp set. I used the coordinating dies (Jingle All The Way Die-namics) to cut out the trees and deer as well.

If you’ve read my blog much in the past, you may have seen my attempts to color. I am not the most marker friendly girl in the planet so I tend to shy away from them. But, boy, the cuteness of this stamp set sure inspired me to drag out my markers and play a little.

I kinda did my own thing to color the trees. Rather than really following any prescribed number system for using markers, I just did my own thing. Here’s how the process looked.

Liberally color one tree with a light green. Scribble (sloppily) some green (with a slightly darker shade of green). Then blend the colors… only slightly… with more scribbles with the lighter color.

Up for another card? Well, coming at you is card #2.

I used the same Jingle All The Way stamps and dies on this little one.

You might be wondering about that snowy background? Yep. Well, that was stamped with the Snowfall Background stamp. If you are scene builder (I love creating them myself), this is a great stamp for that. You’ll be hearing more about that stamp later in the week.

Your cards are so sweet! The second one makes me think of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I loved it as a child and I still enjoy watching that at Christmas time. I like your fun coloring techniques. Great job!
